The Crisis Deepens

On April 8, 2026, Lebanon experienced its deadliest day since the escalation began on March 2. In a sudden wave of attacks, over 100 airstrikes were carried out within minutes, targeting multiple regions, including central Beirut during peak hours. This marked a turning point, escalating the situation into a nationwide humanitarian emergency.

The Human Cost

• 2,500+ people have been killed
• 7,800+ injured across Lebanon
• 1.2 million+ people displaced nationwide
• Over 1 million displaced within the first weeks of the escalation
• Hundreds of children killed or injured (no verified “600 children in 5 weeks” figure confirmed by UN sources)
• 130,000+ people in shelters at peak capacity
• Dozens of hospitals & health facilities are damaged or strained, with severe medicine shortages.
• Critical infrastructure (bridges, roads, crossings) was damaged, restricting humanitarian access.

A Growing Humanitarian Crisis

Lebanon is now facing a severe economic and humanitarian collapse:

• Food prices have risen sharply, making basic nutrition unaffordable
• Fuel shortages are disrupting aid delivery and daily survival
• Medical systems are overwhelmed and under-resourced
• Families are struggling without shelter, income, or security

The combination of conflict, displacement, and inflation is pushing millions into extreme vulnerability.
